It's been months since my last update to Magic Bollocks. This is because I have been out in the world doing magic at people. I have also been putting crayon to paper to progress the book, which I am now thinking of calling The Book Of Magic Bollocks - I sometimes have these bursts of original thought, see? These last days since the madness of the Christmas season finished have been spent with the non-glamourous side of making a living doing stupid tricks; being fucked up the bum by the tax bastards and my accountant bastards. Bastards. Still, I have also had some time to devise a proper marketing strategy for 2010 which I'm very excited about. Book is almost ready for photography and then first edits. I've never written a whole book before so I have no idea how long the publishing bit will take. I will see if I can hoodwink a proper publisher for a bit, and then probably just go for self publishing anyway. Oh yes, and I've told Orchid to bugger off as they seem to be the worst run charity in the world. They can't seem to write a letter in return for free money, so I will look into other charity promo ideas... |

It's all going to plan! I have been sent all the bumf from Orchid Cancer Appeal; a branded shake-in-your-face collection box and lots of leaflets, info cards etc. I also have the first firm date for the fundraising magic, which I will publish and update in its own little section of MB. To help publicise and support the fundraising efforts (and of course to promote myself a bit too) I have set up a Facebook fan page for The Great Sebastiano. There's a link on the left just there. Please click it and become a fan, and cajole your friends into doing likewise - it will help a lot. Also, I'm pleased to say that there are now over 100 members of the Magic Bollocks Facebook group, although most of them are a bit puzzled as to what it is they have joined... |

Exciting news. Magic Bollocks is shortly to become a registered fundraiser for Orchid Cancer Appeal. They fund research and awareness programmes for male cancers, including of course, bollock cancer. This will work by me arranging with hotels and pubs (starting around Cambs, Beds, Herts, etc) to descend upon their punters, providing close-up magic with menaces, in return for donations. I have done this before for Comic Relief and Children in Need and I have found most venues very receptive to the idea, and most patrons very generous. It also doesn't hurt that I give out loads of business cards and generate loads of leads this way. I think I will aim to raise £10,000. I will see if I can achieve this within a year, although I haven't started the clock yet until I sort out the finer details with the charity. |
